Deniz Sertkol (she/her/hers) is a New York-based filmmaker, media artist, and journalist. Her work revolves around the politics of power and the other/migrant/female body.

After earning her BA in Media and Communications from the University of Passau and a quick dip into the Université Aix-Marseille-I in Aix-en-Provence, she moved to Berlin and received her MA in European Media Studies from the University of Potsdam. While working for film festivals like the Berlinale Forum and the Berlin Critics‘ Week, she co-founded the filmzine „Fragment Film“, worked as a film critic and realized various short films.

Her work has been shown at Apartment Project Berlin, Berlin Art Film Festival, Liebes Wedding, Queer Film Festival Munich and the Anthology Film Archives.
